The Point Eastleigh has continued to prioritise accessibility and inclusivity by adding pioneering new assistance technology to its website.
The ReciteMe toolbar allows any visitors to The Point’s online site to use it in the way that works best for them.
By clicking one button, users can launch the Recite Me toolbar and open a text to speech option, reading support aids, a translation tool with over 100 languages and a variety of other key accessibility features.
This helps the one in five people in the UK who have a disability, including those with common conditions like sight loss and dyslexia, to access the website.
It also meets the needs of the one in ten people in the UK who don’t speak English as their first language, by being able to translate The Point’s website into over 100 different languages.
The venue in Leigh Road Eastleigh, which is owned and operated by Eastleigh Borough Council, has also recently installed fully refurbished individual toilet cubicles including a family space and large disabled facility.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Policy, Councillor Tina Campbell, said: “We are aware that people with a disability can face many barriers when visiting inaccessible websites. At The Point the team are working to ensure that everything they do is as inclusive as possible and are fully committed to finding ways to help everyone to enjoy their visit.”
